Sang Il Shim came to Australia to work but was told he would have to pay almost $50,000 for the privilege.
Mr Shim, 50, who migrated from South Korea in 2008, was working at a noodle restaurant in Strathfield on a temporary visa when his boss asked him to pay $48,000 to ensure he could stay in the country.
